These cookies are perfect for Valentine’s Day, combining rich chocolate and crunchy Oreos with bursts of color from M&M’s.

  • Total Time: 27
  • Yield: 3 dozen 1x

Ingredients

✓ 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
✓ 1 cup packed light brown sugar
✓ ½ cup granulated sugar
✓ 2 large eggs
✓ 2 tsp vanilla extract
✓ 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
✓ ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
✓ 1 tsp baking soda
✓ ½ tsp salt
✓ 1½ cups crushed Oreos (about 12 cookies)
✓ 1 cup red, pink & white M&M’s
✓ 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

✓ Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

✓ In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

✓ Stir in the vanilla extract.

✓ Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt into the bowl. Gently fold these dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

✓ Fold in 1½ cups of crushed Oreos, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

✓ Stir in the red, pink & white M&M’s and semi-sweet chocolate chips for bursts of color and flavor.

✓ Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Leave some space between each to allow for spreading during baking.

✓ Place in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Do not overbake; you want them to be just set but still soft in the center.

✓ Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to fully cool.

Notes

Ensure the butter is at room temperature to achieve a smooth texture. Do not overmix the dough once you’ve added the dry ingredients.
